Jingle Bell Fails

Tis' the season to be broke......very broke. I am not in the holiday spirit AT ALL. Now how can mommy be so freaking lazy? Well the answer is simple I'M SO TIRED. Between final papers and my six month old, its been hard to even get a glass of water. Today I looked around the house and noticed the tradition is missing and felt horrible. So tomorrow I will gather the hubby and the kids and get to rolling out Ole Saint Nick. I am slowly pulling it together, so if anyone else is has having the holiday blues, take things day by day. It is best to make the little things count each day because this time of the year is suppose to be about sharing it with the ones you love, not blowing all your money on the ones you know.

A Mother's Job Is Always Done When The Pigs Are Flying

Omgggggggggggggg...........It is very hard to not feel stressed when you have sooooo many stress factors in the equation of Life. Yes I have been ready to hit happy hour up all week but I decided on a few after hour shots. Yes I took a few drinks to the head after the kids were sleeping. I had papers due, lack of sleep, and no happy hour with the hubby; ok that part is a little exaggerated. This week so far has been one that I realized everyone is not your friend whether you think she is or not. I have started to understand as long as you have children and married or just married or just in a committed relationship, your friends that lack those functions will disappear from your life. I feel like I am working my stilettos but the concrete has too many cracks in it. :-(

We Strut With No Pause

As mothers we often deal with the struggle of staying true to ourselves and being women. We make the bottles and change the diapers but we forget about living life. We forget about taking out that little black dress and killer pumps. We forget about purchasing our favorite lipstick after it runs out. We forget about texting that one special message to heat up the night. We forget about the body that got us HERE because the aftermath has shackled our living. We have struggled to be the perfect parent in a world that is not so perfect. We are moms, formed in an array of colors. Together we build a rainbow of support. Together we can call on each other to make a hard day, one that can end with stride. We have been given a gift to bring on a new life, so why kill ours? What good is a mom that is unhappy? As a mom there are mistakes to be made and barriers to break; so why not try them out? Let's dig deep in the back of our closets, put on some makeup, and slap on our heels. Let's stop putting our bodies down and lifting up our spirits. Let's kick the flannel pj’s out the bed and slip on a teddy. Let's leave the sweat suits for the gym and put on some fishnets. Of course as mothers we know the appropriate environment to flaunt our gifts, so even if it’s just for one hour let’s do it. New moms can beat postpartum because a weak mind can never over power a strong soul. I know how hard it can be to get back into the groove of life but trying is a hurdle large enough to shut down insecurities. Let’s take a walk. A walk to vengeance our happiness that can slip away with anger, depression, and insecurities.
As mothers we are not far behind. As mothers we have not fallen short on living. So why stop now. I am a mother of two girls, ages six months and eight years old; so I am well aware of the struggles. I have written many papers, been late for many classes, and cried on many nights due to lack of sleep. I have not created this blog to sing a sad song of motherhood. I created this blog to bring back the joy of women hood. We lack the means to get through tough situations and I am here to say those tough times can be broken into laughs of love. As women we are always labeled weak by nature but it’s a new day and we have taken over stereotypes. Many magazines give advice on parenting and baby needs, but they all leave out MOM. Why let our new position of power damper our fairly worn soles? My name is Tiantay Robles and this mom struts in her stilettos!
